Why was I so lazy all these years?

I am feeling so good with the weight training and aerobics that I have been doing with this program that I am wondering why I was so lazy for so long. I used to be very athletic in my younger years but then life got complicated with caring for children, etc. and doing things for just myself took a backseat (way in the back). I now see how wrong that thinking was. I should have done something to stay in better physical shape all along, but at least it is not too late. I will not fall into that trap again. I know how important the workouts are and will continue to find the time.

Week of Reflection

This week has been one of reflection and gratitude for this program. I lost the second friend within a one month span this week. These women were only a few years older than me and they both died suddenly without warning. My children after hearing of the second death all said they are glad I am doing this program and getting into the habit of exercising and eating right.
Even though it is a pain sometimes to take the time to exercise I have to admit that I feel better after the fact.

This program is terrific

This Heart Challenge is great. It has made such a change in my life. I was realy beginning to feel my age but now I have a lot more energy. It is even beginning to be fun to feel my muscles. Doing more physical exertion is certainly the key to feeling better. Now instead of saying "I'm tired I think I'll take a nap" I get up and do something.

Harder by oneself

I have found it is so much easier to exercise when I have made a commitment to meet someone at the gym. Without that commitment it is so easy for little things to creep up that keep me away from exercising. Things will come up at work and I'll say to myself that I'll just take care of it now and I'll have time later to exercise, but time flys by and I don't get to exercising.

One good hint for snacking: I have found that grape tomatoes are great snacking food. I keep a small bowl of them at my desk. They are so easy to pop into your mouth without getting getting messy.

Feeling good!

This old lady has finally figured out this blog thing with the help of a friend. What a difference the last two weeks of exercising has made. This past weekend I was hiking with my 11 year old Boy Scouts up Payson canyon and I could keep up with them. My clothes are getting looser but the weight hasn't gone done yet. I'm told that is because I'm building muscle and muscle is heavier than fat.
